It’s an old scam, but this time it involves the Highlands County Sheriffs office. Officials there say someone is calling local residents claiming to represent the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office.
They claim the citizen has missed jury duty – then of course, they want money. Sheriff’s officials say if you get such a call – JUST HANG UP.
Another teacher suspension in the Highlands County School System, but district officials are not saying much about it.
Apparently Avon Park Middle School Teacher Stacy Leaphart was put on paid administrative leave earlier this month, but district officials have declined to release any details – saying the matter still is under investigation.
In other, separate actions, two other employees – Avon Park Middle School teacher Kristen Miller and Lake Placid Lake Placid Middle School Coach Jason Test have been terminated.
