Highlands County residents are invited to the 2nd Annual Red, White, and Blue Veterans Day Car Show and Parade on today, November 11th, at Firemen’s Field, located at 681 Magnolia Avenue in Sebring. The car show begins at 4 p.m., followed by the parade at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy vendors, food trucks, entertainment, and a night filled with community pride. Residents are encouraged to show their city spirit—red for Avon Park, white for Lake Placid, and blue for Sebring—as Highlands County unites in gratitude for America’s heroes.
The 8th Annual “Let It Grow” Garden Festival and Plant Sale returns Saturday, November 15th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bert J. Harris Jr. Agricultural Center, 4509 George Boulevard in Sebring. Hosted by the UF/IFAS Master Gardener Volunteers, the festival features more than 100 vendors offering plants, handmade goods, local honey, jams, and crafts. Visitors can enjoy live music, a free tomato-growing class at 11 a.m., and a silent auction and raffle. Food trucks will serve barbecue, arepas, and sweet treats throughout the day. A Winter Haven man was arrested after crashing into another vehicle, fleeing the scene, and continuing to drive until his car caught fire. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 9:25 p.m. on November 4th, when 28-year-old Kevin Casey struck a red Dodge Ram at Lake Alfred Road and Carefree Cove Drive. Deputies say Casey drove about a mile before his Nissan Altima caught fire, forcing him to stop. Casey was taken into custody after refusing to cooperate and is now facing charges for leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage.
The Sebring High School Band received a heartwarming surprise Friday night — a brand-new 24-foot equipment trailer, replacing their aging 20-year-old one. The gift was made possible through a generous partnership with All American Trailer Connection in Sebring, which sponsored the majority of the cost after the Band Boosters raised $7,500. The custom blue-and-black trailer, complete with new decals by Sebring Signs and Shirts, arrived just in time for the band’s final competition of the season
