Don Elwell
Originally from the northern suburbs of Chicago, Don Elwell arrived in Highlands County back in 2002. He works as the Director of Marketing & Communications for the Alan Jay Automotive Network and proudly represented Highlands County as County Commissioner from 2010 to 2020. Don was recognized as “Best Local Elected Official” in the State of Florida for his assistance and efforts in helping county residents during Hurricane Irma.
Annually, Don volunteers at dozens of events in the community and serves on several local boards of directors. Don has been honored as “Citizen of the Year” twice and is a popular master of ceremonies for various events in the area, having been named “Best Emcee” for over 15 years in a row.
Don lives in the Spring Lake area of Sebring with his beautiful wife, some family (varies almost daily) and far too many pets. He enjoys spending time with his quickly-growing family, cooking delicious homemade meals (especially Chicago-style pizzas), and cheering on many Chicago and Florida sports teams.
One of the first members of the community Don met when he first arrived was Dan Andrews. The two became fast friends, and they continue to get along well (actually, Don mostly fakes it). In late 2021, the concept of a radio show focusing on local issues and fun was floated, and “D&D Live” was born.
Daniel F. “Dan” Andrews
Dan is a lifelong resident of Sebring and married to the love of his life, Laura. Dan and Laura have two children – Matthew, a cadet at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado; and Hannah, a talented swimmer and student at Sebring High School.
Dan has a passion for many things, but his priorities are God, Family & Friends. Dan has plenty of business ventures to keep him busy — Owner of Legacy Bicycles in downtown Sebring, Race Director of the Heartland Triathlon, Partner in Strangely Warmed Coffee Co. and a little side gig in playing with and restoring vintage cars.
Having served on many local community boards and a term on the Sebring City Council, Dan enjoys being engaged in the growth and development of Highlands County, attending and engaging in a variety of city meetings. Dan’s involvement in the community includes President of Sebring Noon Rotary, Chairman of First United Methodist Church of Sebring, Director of Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce, President of Highlands Pedalers Bicycle Club, District Advancement Chairman of Boy Scouts of America and Director/Coach for TriPOWER Youth Triathlon Team.
Clearly, Dan does not know how to say NO and is now playing a co-starring role on a little radio show called “D&D LIVE”, where he will always be known as the “second ‘D’”!
