A 76-year-old Sebring man was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a semi-truck on U.S. Route 27 near Lake Josephine Drive. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man entered the southbound lane and was hit around 11:17 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The crash remains under investigation and marks the fourth traffic fatality in Highlands County this year.
A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a crash on Old Avon Park Road near TS Wilson Road, southeast of Frostproof. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle was reported around 7:47 a.m., and the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim and the condition of the other driver have not been released. The crash remains under active investigation.

Agape Family Farms will reopen to the public Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 631 Schlosser Road in Sebring. The farm will operate under Florida agritourism guidelines and is launching a new on-site concept, Agape Family Restaurant, with 49 seats available. The menu will feature casual items and Cuban-inspired dishes, using produce grown on the property. Regular hours will be Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 p.m., with weekday closures for now.
