New2s Update for 9/21/22

A bicyclist reportedly was killed this morning here in Highlands County. The accident occurred shortly after 6:AM on Kenilworth Blvd near the intersection of Snyder, east of Sebring.
The cyclist, described only as a 37-year-old male, was killed when he collided with a Sport Utility Vehicle. Florida Highway Patrol officials have released no other details on the incident.

Preliminary work has started once again to refurbish Harder Hall. New owner Robert Blackmon of St. Petersburg said the first step will be a clean out of debris in preparation for work on the nearly century-old building.
Blackmon says his biggest problem currently is ongoing break-ins and vandalism at the property. He’s asked the community to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
He says people driving by should soon see a difference as landscaping work is set to start very soon.

Sad news with the passing of a Sebring pioneer. Former Highlands County Administrative assistant Charlie Cullens reportedly passed away this past Sunday. Cullens – an uncle to current Intrim County Administrator Laurie Hurner served as the Board’s county administrative assistant from 1971 to 1980. Commissioners held a moment of silence for Cullens as part of their meeting yesterday morning.
