A Sebring man is facing multiple felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Winter Haven. Police say they stopped a car after it repeatedly drifted out of its lane, then found more than 77 grams of cannabis, a digital scale and pills that tested positive for MDMA. Twenty-two-year-old Quan Shuler of Sebring allegedly claimed the backpack containing the drugs was his. He was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail.
A Sebring teen is among two young drivers arrested after deputies say they raced their Chevy sports cars down State Road 60 in Polk County. Deputies spotted 19-year-old Gwaday Sunsha Harrison of Sebring and 18-year-old Ricardo Ramiro Garcia of Haines City leaving a gas station late Wednesday night before allegedly lining up and taking off. Both were arrested and charged with misdemeanor racing.
A longtime Sebring tradition is making a comeback! The Miss 12 Hours of Sebring ambassador program is returning for the race’s 75th running in March. Young women ages 16 to 24 who live within 60 miles of the track can apply. Highlands County is locking in a six-year, $658,000 maintenance agreement with Motorola Solutions to maintain the county’s emergency communications system. The agreement covers radios, towers and other equipment used by the Sheriff’s Office, police departments, fire-rescue and 911 dispatch. The new contract takes effect October first.
