The Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency is moving forward with plans for new gateway signs at the entrances to downtown. The CRA voted unanimously to seek proposals for updated signs on North and South Ridgewood Drive, based on its existing wayfinding plan. The project comes after board members discussed the lack of clear “Welcome to Downtown Sebring” signage at the city’s main entrances.
A Frostproof man is facing another arrest for driving on a suspended license—just six days after being convicted of the same offense twice. Polk County deputies stopped 23-year-old Jason Donald Brewer Monday on Interstate 4, where a records check showed the two recent convictions. Brewer was arrested again and, according to deputies, told the arresting officer, “It’s not like this is going to make me change; I am gonna just keep doing it.
A speeding stop in DeSoto County led to the arrest of a six-time convicted felon and the seizure of meth, a rifle and illegally harvested saw palmetto berries. Deputies say 77 grams of meth, drug paraphernalia and an AR-15 were found inside Dewayne Rose’s van after a K-9 alerted. Deputies also recovered 11 pounds of saw palmetto berries, and Rose faces multiple felony charges.
The Rotary Club of Sebring is preparing for its annual Lake Jackson Cleanup Day on Saturday, October third, from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will meet at the Veterans Beach pavilion before spreading out around the lake to collect trash and debris, including by boat, kayak or jet ski.
