Highlands County sheriff’s officials are investigating an early morning traffic accident. Reportedly, a woman was hit by a car around 5:00 this morning on Waterside Drive, in the Highlands Ridge Community.
Deputies say they’re not sure what she was doing out so early in the morning. But she has been airlifted to a trauma center. The incident remains under investigation.
Hardee County Sheriff’s officials say they have added a new member to their law enforcement team. They have introduced K-9 Mingo. He’s an 18-month-old, yellow Labrador.
Mingo reportedly has been trained to smell "all the illegal things and now has been deployed for his first shifts.
