News Update for 12/7/23

A high speed chase has sent a Highlands County warrant suspect to the hospital. According to Highlands County Sheriff’s officials, 48-year-old David Allan Kinglsey jr fled his North Lake Drive home in Lorida, as deputies arrived yesterday to serve a warrant.
A chase ensued, which went from Highlands into Okechobee county. Kingsley reportedly ran over stop sticks twice, first losing a rear tire, then rolling his car.
Kingsley was airlifted to a trauma center in serious condition. He now faces additional counts. Officials gave no indication on the original warrant charges.

Highlands County school board members have been briefed on a new inniative in the system. Known as "Project Search," the program is for students with disablities. Working with Advent hospital, it provides real-life job experience for the youngsters.
Currently eight students are involved with the program which includes tasks in various deparments including warehouse, emergency and food & nutrition.
Coach Buddy Hunter, who spearheads the program, invited board members to come and observe the iniative in action.
