News Update for 4/18/22

A traffic accident south of Sebring has claimed a life. Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate a 35-year-old Sebring man slammed his car head-on into a semi-truck on Highway 98 near the Lock Access Road.
Apparently, the car went left of center on a curve and hit the semi. Two people in a sport utility vehicle were gathered up into the mishap. The driver and a passenger there suffered only minor injuries.

Highlands county sheriff’s officials have arrested an Orlando man in connection with a reported attempted kidnapping incident. The family of the viction, who is under the age of 12, apparently called police while they were chasing a suspect through Spring Lake.
The victim was able to get out of the vehicle and the suspect fled. Apparently, the youngster had met the man online on a gaming platform.
Allegations of sexual abuse were made and 19-year-old Anthony Joshua Borgesano was arrested in Ocoee on multiple counts including kidnapping, child abuse and interferring with child custody. He was booked into the Highlands County jail.

A Hardee man has been killed in a Manatee County traffic mishahp. Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate the 30-year-old Wauchula man was eastbound on State Road 64 near Verna Bethany Road when he went off the highway, hit a sign, a fence then ran into a culvert.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
