News Update for 4/22/21

If it sounds like there’s more air traffic in Highlands County today – well, there is. Officials at the Avon Park Bombing Range have announce they will be hosting training flights from early morning until very late tonight.
They declined to indicate what kind of planes might be utilizing the range or whether they are part of any special operation or exercise.

Preparations are underway for tomorrow’s official observance of Highlands County’s 100th birthday. In addition to a commemorative centennial county commission meeting, there will be an exhibition on the grounds of the Highlands County Government Center in Sebring,
In all there will be a dozen government and private organizations with outdoor displays. There also will be some emergency vehicles parked in the area. An 11:00 flyover also is planned.
The event will run tomorrow from 9am until 2pm.

While Highlands County is winding down their coronavirus vaccination program, officials at the Polk County Sheriff’s office have announced they will be giving inoculations to inmates there.
Reportedly, it is part of a partnership between the Polk Sheriff’s Office and Corizion Heath. Corizion is the Polk County jail health provider.
Both inmates and correction office employees will be illegible for the Moderna inoculations.
