It was a loud but generally uneventful ringing in of the new year here. Highlands County Sheriff’s officials say there were lots of complaints about fireworks over the New Year’s weekend – but no reports of any injuries. There was some patchy dense fog in Highlands County and a dozen other Florida counties this morning from Tarpon Springs to Naples. Officials say despite limited visibility in some areas, there were no traffic or other problems to report. The advisory was issued shortly after 4:00 this morning and was extended to 10AM.
