One person was killed and another was injured yesterday evening when a car and motorcycle collided at the intesection of Memorial Drive and the Sebring Parkway. Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate a car driven by a Sebring woman made a left turn in front of the oncoming motorcycle.
The 23-year-old Sebring man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sebring woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Northbound lanes of Highway 27 near the entrance to Sun ‘N Lakes were shut down for a time due to a traffic mishap with injuries.
The roadway is open, but motorists still should expect some delays in the area.

Fire/Rescue units from Sun ‘N Lakes and the City of Sebring were dispatched to the Placid Lakes boat ramp on Lake Placid last night to help a boater in distress. Reportedly, Sebring deployed their boat to help the man, whose craft reportedly was having mechanical issues.
He was towed in without incident.

Pickleball is coming to Avon Park. City council members, sitting as the Community Redevelopment Agency last night heard about plans to convert the tennis courts at Donaldson Park into Pickelball courts.
The effort is being spearheaded by local businessman Bill Jarret. CRA Executive Director Shawn Holiday says they may be able to get as many as a half dozen courts out of the current area.
Officials of the Avon Park Shuffleboard Association have volunteered to oversee the courts, once they are installed.

A search is underway in Polk County to find a man considered armed and dangerous. The sheriff’s office announced yesterday that Enrique Martinez is wanted for charges that include murder.
The 26-year-old lives in a homeless camp in Winter Haven, and he’s accused in the shooting death of another homeless man in the camp in November.
Sheriff Grady Judd says Martinez is also a suspect in the death of a 20-year-old woman who was reported missing last week. Martinez’ criminal history includes over two dozen felonies and misdemeanors.
Martinez is described as 5-foot-6, 146 pounds with brown eyes, black hair, a tattoo on his left wrist and one on the left side of his neck. A 10-thousand dollar reward is available for information that leads to his capture.
