A weekend-full of pyrotechnics and more begins tonight -celebrating America’s 1776 Declaration of Independence from Great Brittan. Sun ‘N Lake will kick things off with activities, a food truck rally and fireworks. That will commence this evening at 7:00 in and around the community center.
Avon Park will have their display over Lake Verona tomorrow night. Frostproof will hold their “Lights on the Lake event Saturday as well. That will commence at 6:00 with booths and food trucks at Lake Clinch Beach
Sebring and Lake Placid will hold their celebration on Sunday evening – as will Zolfo Springs – that will be at Pioneer Park.
Also on Sunday will be the Highlands Lakeside Theater’s annual Patriotic Revue. That will run every hour on the hour from 11am until 3pm. A picnic lunch also will be available as part of those fest ivies in Anthony’s Lounge.
A Lake Placid student is getting ready to put a recent prize to good use. Aleah Walker received the “Max Gooding Best of Show” award for her painting “Metamorphosis.” Walker says she will put the scholarship stipend toward her upcoming tuition payment at South Florida State College.
