News Update for 11/15/21

A 38-year-old Sebring man was injured over the weekend when he crashed his ultralight aircraft near the Sebring Regional Airport.
According to reports, the pilot took off from an open field near the Sebring airfield then crashed shortly afterward in what was described as a low-altitude, low-speed flight.
He was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Both the FAA and NTSB will conduct investigations into the incident.

An elderly Lake Placid woman was killed over the weekend when she pulled her car into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate the 88-year-old woman pulled her car off Razorback Road onto Highway 27 and into the path of a southbound auto, driven by a 16-year-old Lake Placid girl.
The teen sustained only minor injuries. Troopers say both drivers WERE buclkled up.

A new housing development soon may be coming to Avon Park, City council members there have approved a zoning change for nine acres off Lake Boulevard. The property reportedly already has been subdivided as part of a 2013 annexation move by Southern Homes of Polk County..
The new zoning would permit as many as 6 units per acre, however authorities say it may be fewer than that.
