News Update for 11/22/21

Auto incidents kept Highlands County first responders busy overnight. The first one happened about 10:00 on the Sebring Parkway’s Circle where it connects with the Panther Parkway. Three cars collided on the roundabout with one person transported to the hospital
The second occurred about a half hour later at the intersection of Highway 27 and Sun ‘N Lake Blvd.Reportedly one vehicle rammed another in what was described as a domestic dispute. Apparently, one of the motorists subsequently was charged with aggravated assault.

Motorists are reminded that there’s no school this week for youngsters in the Highlands County system. They’ll be out today through Friday, so keep you eyes open for children out and about during normal school hours.
Classes will resume next Monday.

Avon Park city council members will discuss provisions for shutting off utility services to those who don’t pay their bills when they get together this evening. The measure includes payment plans as well as new regulations for commercial connections to the system.
In other action, the council will hear a request to illuminate the city’s historic gazebo – just in time for Christmas.

A Wauchulla man was killed in a Hardee County traffic crash over the weekend. Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate the motorist was southbound on US 17 when his pickup truck went off the road and overturned.
The 33-year-old driver apparently was not buckled up and was ejected from the rolling truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman was brutally assaulted and a man has been arrested in a Lake Wales incident. Police in the Crown Jewel of the Ridge have charged 39-year-old Charles Aaron Armstrong jr. in connection with the incident.
Officer’s reportedly found the victim in her West Sessoms Avenue apartment, beaten and unresponsive. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. Police describe the unit as a horrific scene that was spattered with blood.
