News Update for 12/4/23

It will be double duty for Highlands County commissioners tomorrow. First, they will meet for their regular morning session, they they will hold a special afternoon workshop where they will discuss the proliferation of mobile home communities in the county.
Among other things, at their regular meeting the commission will mull over addiong additional roads to their reconstruction program.

It was quite foggy across Highlands County this morning. School officials say busses were not held up, but drivers were cautioned to use discretion.
Motorists were reminded to leave early, slow down and use their low beams for better visibility. It’s burned off now.
No traffic or other fog-related problems have been reported.

It was a weekend of Christmas parades across central Florida with a processional in Sebring Friday evening, followed by parades in Wauchula and Frostproof on Saturday.
Only one Christmas parade remains in the area, that will be this coming Saturday in Lake Placid.

The city of Frostproof could gain a substaintailly larger footprint tonight. Council members in the Friendly City will consider the second and final reading for the Crooked Lake Habitat. The Planned Unit Development, just off Wes Mann Road, will comprise just over 100 acres, and is set for two-acre plots.
