News Update for 12/5/19

There’s been a break-in at another local gun store. Sebring Police say somebody went through a window at Boom Boom Guns & Ammo on Highway 27 shortly after 3:00 this morning. It’s unclear what – if anything was taken.
Authorities say they are reviewing security camera footage in an effort to identify anybody involved in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sebring Police Department.

It’s the second day of the Alan Jay Classic 12 at the Sebring International Raceway. Fans today will have an opportunity to see a number of qualifying sessions, a couple of races and night practice – that’ll get underway this evening at 7:00.
Tomorrow, the airplanes will officially arrive. They’ll taxi down the back stretch of the track tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 – then be on display through the weekend.

Earlier this month, Avon Park city council members named eleven candidates to an ad hoc committee to make suggestions on a new city manager. They hold their first meeting today.
It’s expected to be an organizational session for the group. They have no official power, however, council members responded to citizen requests to be involved in the process.
More than 100 applications have been received for the post.
