If you’re looking for a good place for mortgages, this may be it. A new report from Construction Coverage that chronicles the best place for homebuyers to find the best mortgage rates, found the Avon Park-Sebring metro area is below the national average.
The survey says about a quarter of the 30-year mortgages and nearly half the 15-year mortgages surveyed ran three percent below the national average. With inflation spiking, the Fed reportedly is looking toward raising rates to stem borrowing.

The appointment of new members to the Avon Park Planning & Zoning Board sparked a discussion about growth in the City of Charm. Mayor Garrett Anderson told the council, the city needed to evolve a vision for the P&Z board.
He said the city needs to show they are fair, and open for business. Saying the council meeded to bring new people to municipal boards with new ideas, he called for the item to be placed on the agenda for the next meeting to have an open discussion on the issue.

Today is the last day for those who suffered damage during the April 4th hailstorm, to let county officials know about it.
The operation at the Highlands County Emergency Management call center is set up to determine local needs and to see what resources may be available to help residents with those needs.
