Highlands County Sheriff’s detectives are looking for the person or persons who’s calling local residents claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office. Apparently, they are wanting to speak about an alleged "legal matter." The caller claims to be from the “Civil and Warrant Division.”
However, Sheriff’s officials say the calls are not coming from them. They advise if you get such a call – just hang up. If there’s a problem, deputies won’t call, they’ll drop by for a visit.
