It appears that getting into a shooting match with the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office might not be a good idea. A four member team – including Sheriff Paul Blackman himself, has won the inaugural Law Enforcement Sporting Clays Competition held at MacDill Air Force Base. In fact, Sheriff Blackman tied for best individual score overall.
Other members of the Bulls-eye squad included: Capt. Keith Starling, Capt. John Barcinas and Lt. Brian Kramer.

Highlands County Sheriff’s officials have reported a happy ending to a Cold Case missing juvenile report. Jocelyn Moncerrat Flores Calzada, who was reported missing in March 2012 as a juvenile after a domestic dispute with her mother, was located yesterday in Wilson, N.C.
During the original investigation it was revealed Calzada was potentially taken to Vera Cruz, Mexico where she had family members at the time. This was confirmed by family members in Mexico.
The investigation continued even after contact was lost with the mother. Special Victims Unit Detective Meghan Williams now has confirmed Calzada, who is now 21, is alive and well and living in Wilson, N.C.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says a teenager was “ambushed” and fatally shot in a park near Bartow where he had apparently gone to “sell some marijuana” to someone.
17-year-old Taigur Taguri and an unnamed 19-year-old woman reportedly drove to Gordon Heights Park where the deal went wrong.
The woman was not injured in the shooting. She told sheriff’s investigators that Taguri had asked her to go on a ride with him. When they got to the park several people opened both doors and began shooting.
Reportedly, two arrests were made in that case today.
