A simple traffic stop has led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Sebring man. Once the car was stopped on Highway 27 in front of the Sun ‘N Lake community, deputies were alerted by a Sheriff’s K-9 to possible narcotics.
They then searched the vehicle of Fredrick Taber Reed. There they found a cache of drugs.
Deputies recovered marijuana, methamphetamine, baggies, scales, syringes and a loaded handgun. Reed has been charged with numerous drug counts as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was booked into the Highlands County jail.
Sebring police reportedly have gotten a bit of help from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies there reportedly have arrested Michael Sramek. The 35-year-old Sebring man had been wanted in connection with a June 1st shooting incident that occurred off Melady Avenue and Kenilworth Blvd. in the City on the Circle.
The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
Charges against 39-year-old Frostproof man now have been upgraded to DUI Manslaughter. Mark Anthony Poe had been ruled the at-fault driver in a June, two-vehicle crash that killed a 27-year-old Lake Wales woman.
Following a blood-alcohol analysis, Poe was found to have more than three times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
He was taken to the Polk County Jail where he is being held without bond. He already had been charged with vehicular homicide in the incident.
A Polk County man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in Babson Park. Justin Ward reportedly was taken into custody without incident and charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder.
According to Polk County Sheriff’s reports, Ward and the victim became embroiled in a fight during a party at a Sunset Trail residence. The victim was stabbed in the abdomen during the altercation.
