News Update for 1/25/22

Highlands County Sheriff’s detectives reportedly are investigating a shooting that took place in The Palms at Lake Tulane apartment complex early Sunday morning. Lawmen called to the scene found a 30-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.
He was transported to a local hospital by EMS for treatment of his injuries.
Authorities are asking anyone with information is asked to contact the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office or to call the Heartland Crime Stoppers confidential tip line at 1-800-226-TIPS

Sebring police are issuing a warning to local businesses who have been approached about installing games of chance at their locations. Despite what they might have been told, these video games are illegal in the state of Florida.
Authorities are advising any business who may have allowed such games on their premises to call the leasing company and have them removed as soon as possible.
Officers reportedly now will begin inspections. If they find such devices at local stores, they have been instructed to open an investigation under Chapter 849 of the Florida Statutes.

Kaylee Tuck has received a prestigious assignment. Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Chris Sprowls has announced that he’s assigned the Lake Placid State Representative to the Public Liaison Advisory Committee for the Florida High School Athletic Association.
It was Tuck who last year introduced they shepherded a measure through the state legislature that mandates only biological girls can compete in women’s sports in the Sunshine State.
Tuck still is serving her first term, having been elected to the Florida House of Representatives back in 2020.
