Avon Park Vice Mayor Jim Barnard escaped serious injury when he was involved in a two vehicle crash over the weekend. The incident reportedly occurred Saturday at Highway 27 and Lakeview Drive. The force of the impact apparently caused the other vehicle involved to overturn.
Barnard said he and his daughter were in the car. He says the accident left him aching, but no bones were broken.

Highlands County sheriff’s deputies arrested an Avon Park man last night after what appears to have been an attempted robbery at the McDonald’s Restaurant in the City of Charm.

He was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

It looks like the city of Frostproof is in for some development. At their meeting tonight, city council members will be asked to approve a zoning change for three acres of property at the intersection of Fourth Street Southwest and the Scenic Highway to allow for the location of a window manufacturing plant.
In other action, the council will look at a subdivison plan. The Cody Cove Lakefront project would be located on the south side of Crooked Lake.
