News Update for 11/7/19

The holiday season is here, and that means it’s time for Thanksgiving in the Highlands. The Highlands Radio Group has been conducting the drive for cash and non-perishable goods for better than a quarter century.
The effort goes to underwrite the services of the New Testament Church & Mission. Today’s kickoff event is going on today at the Heartland Pharmacy on Highway 27 in Sebring. The collection will run until 6:00 this evening. Next Thursday, it will be in Avon Park.

Another success for the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office. Hours after sheriff’s officials added his name to the “Most Wanted” list, Manuel J. Ferrell turned himself in to authorities yesterday.
The 32-year-old Sebring man was wanted on active warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping to facilitate a felony and domestic battery.

A driver was injured last night when his Sport Utility Vehicle overturned. The mishap occurred about 7:PM near the intersection of Northern Boulevard and Henscratch Road.
No names or other details have yet been released. Authorities say after being taken to a local hospital, the victim was airlifted out to an area trauma center.
