Final preparations are underway for tomorrow’s opening of the Highlands County Fair. Gates will open tomorrow evening at 5:00 with Highlands Radio Group Day. On stage at the Alan Jay Arena will be the Junior Miss Highlands County Pageant.
New this year will be Magic by Nelson, Chainsaw Artist Rodney Green and the Sea Lion Splash. Reithoffer Rides also promise some new attractions.

The Southbound Lanes of Highway 27 in Sebring were blocked for a time yesterday morning when a car overturned. Witnesses say the vehicle was northbound when it rolled, ending up in the southbound lanes.
There’s no indication on how the mishap occurred or the extent of injuries.

The Haines City Police Department, in cooperation with Polk County Sheriff’s deputies, yesterday captured four illegal aliens linked to a burglary spree.
The arrests include Gabriel Acosta, Saul Contreras, Wandry Alcantara, and David Herrera.
Accoding to reports a security guard noticed suspicious activity involving the theft of household appliances from new construction homes and notified law enforcement.
Responding officers tracked down and intercepted a vehicle believed to be used in the crime. A pursuit ensued and the vehicle crashed with the suspects fleeing on foot.
In the vehicle officers found stolen appliances w, directly linking the suspects to the burglaries. They were identified and booked into the Polk County jail.
