News Update for 2/14/20

An argument west of Sebring last night led to jail for one man and the hospital for another. Highlands County sheriff’s officials say the incident happened near the intersection of Jacklyn and Recreation streets out near the YMCA shortly before midnight.
One man was stabbed, he was flown out to Lakeland Regional, a suspect in the incident reportedly has been taken into custody. No names or other details have yet been released.

Attractions include Red Dragon Laser Tag, Scotts World of Magic Show and the Grizzly Experience. The fair will wind up tomorrow night.

Officials at the Highlands County School Board say students will be out of class again today. Motorists are cautioned to watch out for youngsters walking, biking or playing during normal school hours.
Although there is no school for students, there may be activity at individual schools by teachers and non-instructional personnel. The District Office also will be open today.

A small single-engine plane yesterday crashed into a home’s front yard, killing the Port Orange couple onboard. The incident occurred just off the Bartow Executive Airport.
The four-seat, propeller-driven plane reportedly crumbled up against a tree in the front yard of a one-story home.
The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
