It now will be a bit less difficult to purchase properties with big liens on them in Avon Park. City council members have enacted a program that will allow an easy-payment plan for those having to pay off thousands of dollars in accrued fines and hard costs on properties that have been in violation of code enforcement issues for quite some time.
Council members hope the program will help get those properties back on the tax rolls.
Traffic was stacked up on State Road 70 at County Road 721 for a time this morning due to a two car crash. There reportedly were no injuries, but both vehicles apparently are on fire.
Two people were taken to the hospital after four vehicles collided on Highway 27 North in Sebring yesterday. According to reports, three cars and a semi tractor trailer rig were involved in the tangle. Sebring police have released no other details.
A woman was injured yesterday when she was run over by a truck in the parking lot of the Avon Park Walmart. She reportedly was flown to a trauma center.
Nearly two dozen units turned out to douse the flames at a mobile home fire in East Lake Wales yesterday. Authorities say the trailer house was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived at the Dog Yard Road address.
There were no injuries in the incident. Cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
