A new dining experience is coming to The City of Charm. According to reports, Maxwell Groves in Avon Park is ramping up to launch a Food Truck Park on their property.
It will begin on March first, when they hold a Food Truck Night at their location off East Circle Street. Owners say their goal is to work towards hosting food trucks every FIRST and THIRD weekend of the month.
Highlands County Sheriff’s officials say citizen cooperation can help send bad guys to jail. After a public plea, they have been able to identify a suspect in a Placid Lakes case. A resident noticed somebody taking mail out of a mail box. In fact, several mailboxes were pilfered – and detectives say – some people still may not know their mail was taken by an unauthorized person.
After several reports, a car and driver were identified in the case. So far, no names or other information have been released.
Those wanting to run for the upcoming Lake Placid Town Council election have until noon today to get their paperwork filed for the April second balloting. So far, five people have picked up packets in search of the two seats that will come open.
The new packets also include the controversial Form 6 – which mandates candidates reveal any holdings or possessions they have that are valued at over $1,000.
It’s going to be a big weekend in Florida’s Heartland. The Cracker Trail Riders will be assembling in Bradenton tomorrow for next week’s cross-state ride. They’ll be coming through Hardee County on Tuesday and on Wednesday will make their traditional half-way crossing at Highway 27 here in Highlands County.
Tomorrow is Tire Amnesty Day in Hardee County. They will be accepting old tires free all day at the Hardee Landfill in Wauchula in an effort to reduce the mosquito population there.
In Frostproof, the 22nd Annual Orange Blossom Festival and Car Show will be held tomorrow on Wall Street fom 9 to 3. In addition to the classic, custom and vintage cars, there will be vendors, a kid zone and live music.
