News Update for 2/21/20

Two people reportedly were taken to the hospital last night after an accident on the west side of Sebring. Two cars reportedly collided about 7:30 at the intersection of Highway 27 and Vicki Drive in front of the Lakeshore Mall. No names or other details have yet been released.

Highlands County Sheriff’s officials are warning about yet another scam. They say some residents have received emails that appear to have come from their church. Their request? The victim should purchase Ebay gift cards to go to cancer patients.
Investigators say it could be any kind of gift card for any purported charitable purpose. Chances are most likely, it’s a scam.
Officials warn that scammers love gift cards because once they are cashed in, that money is gone forever and is virtually untraceable. NEVER purchase gift cards for anybody you don’t know.

It’s still about a month away from this year’s Mobil One 12 Hours of Sebring – but already there’s lots of activity at the Sebring International Raceway.
Six teams were out testing the bumps at the historic 17 Turn curcuit. They included JDC-Miller MotorSports, Whelen Engineering Racing, Porsche GT Team, GEAR Racing, Wright Motorsports and Meyer Shank Racing.
A number of local 6th graders were out at the track earier this week for a field trip. The 26 students from Walker Academy got to tour the track & received a tech talk from Gear Racing’s very own Katherine Legge & Christina Nielsen.
