After weeks of waiting, officials from Shaner Hotel Management last night officially revealed the new “Seven – The Sebring Raceway Hotel.” The group has rebranded the restaurants at the former Chateau Elan with a new look and menu. They also have started to remodel the 123 rooms on the property to be cleaner, brighter and more user friendly.
Many dignitaries from Avon Park, Sebring and Lake Placid were in attendance at last night’s Tri-Chamber mixer to see Sebring Mayor John Shoop cut the ceremonial ribbon.
Today begins an event-packed weekend in Highlands County. The Sebring Vintage Classic begins racing at the Sebring International Raceway. Practice and qualifying will be held for all cars at the track.
The Vet Jam AquaFest will commence at 1:00 at Lake Verona in Avon Park. Music, food and a ski show are planned. Their Vet Jam Music fest will be tomorrow.
The Sebring Firemens’ Barbecue Fest commences today as well that’ll start at 11:00 and run through tomorrow.
Lake Placid police officers began their day early. There was a robbery at the Jalisco convenient mart on South Main Avenue in the Caladium Capital during the pre-dawn hours.
Authorities say it was a couple of suspects that robbed the place shortly before 5:00. They say no injuries were reported in the incident.
