Highlands County Sheriff’s detectives are looking into a reported shooting incident. The-drive by happend last night in the vicinity of Sebring Parkway.
The victim, who was found near College Drive in Avon Park, reportedly sufferd non-life threatening injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
Avon Park city councilwoman Brenda Gray is calling for improvements to Lake Tulane. City staff says they’ll take care of it – however, the nearby community also must do its part as well. Gray has asked that weeds be cleared from the lake and surrounding areas and trash be removed from the beach to help facilitate swimmers.
City Manager Mark Schrader said He’d have crews take care of it, but that workers constantly are pulling things out of the lake there, and asked the community to do its part to keep the area clean.
In recent weeks tires, shopping carts, liquor bottles and even a basketball goal have been fished out of those waters.
