It should be a short meeting for the Avon Park city council tonight. Council members will take a step toward downtown revitalization with the first reading of an ordinance that would allow artisan manufacturing and craft food & beverage production in the downtown area.
Proponents say that would allow such places as hand-made jewelry, soaps, craft beer and the like to be made on premises and set up shop in the City of Charm.

Lake Wales police have issued a warrant for a Sebring man in connection with a fatal shooting incident there earlier this month. Wanted is 40-year-old Tex Gifford.
Lawmen in the Crown Jewel of the Ridge believe it was Gifford who opened fire and killed 42-year-old Bruce Spry during a large outdoor gathering in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Lake Wales.
Authorities say Spry was shot at least six times following a verbal altercation. They say Gifford should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call law enforcement or the confidential CRI8MEBUSTERS hotline.

The Kenilworth Lodge has been closed for several years, but that apparently does not stop some people form exploring. Sebring Police reportedly arrested 25-year-old Michael Logan following reports of a trespasser inside the building.
There’s no word what he was doing inside Police say there are “no vacancies” at the Kenilworth and owners are pressing trespassing charges.

Motorists in Sebring beware. The road closure that originally had been scheduled last week at Desoto Road and the Sebring Parkway is going on today. That means detours and delays in that area.
That means there will be some lane closures and re-routing over the next couple of days while the work is completed. Authorities say the east side will get the treatment today and the west side tomorrow.
Drivers are asked to have patience – or find another route…
