It appears people on motorized scooters could be rolling through Avon Park the way they are in Sebring. Dan Andrews of Legacy Bicycles made a presentation to Avon Park city council members to locate a dozen or so of the BIRD scooters around the City of Charm for recreational use as well as for commuters.
Those wishing to rent the electric scooters can do so by using an application on their telephone. It comes at about $24 per hour to use. Council members asked city attorney Gerald Buhr to craft an agreement for their consideration.

Desoto City firefighters were called out yesterday to extinguish another shed fire. According to reports, the out building was fully engulfed in flames when units arrived at the scene.
Loss was set at $1500 – no injuries were reported in the incident. No cause for the blaze was listed.

William “Robert” Wiggins, who faces charges related to the July 2020 triple slaying of three friends at a lake in Frostproof, has been denied bond by a judge who noted he had repeatedly violated court orders by communicating with his older brother, the accused gunman.
The 22-year-old Wiggins has been charge with three counts of of accessory after the fact and one count of tampering with evidence. If convicted, he faces up to 95 years in prison.
His older brother, 26-year-old Tony Lee “T.J.” Wiggins is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and faces the death penalty if convicted.
