It appears Florida Hospital soon will be going by a new name – Adventest Health System. Officials say it is a change that will be reflected across their 1,000 care facilities. The local hospital reportedly will be known as AdventHealth Heartland.
The change reportedly not the result of a merger or change of ownership – but rather is designed to reflect a unified system inasmuch as the word “advent” means the coming of something of significance.
It’s more than a name change, the health system also is announcing several initiatives in “whole-person care,” that emphasize better connectivity across the system.
The name change will be effective in January of next year.
It was back to the classroom yesterday for thousands of youngsters across Highlands County. Administration officials at the Highlands County School Board say there were only a couple of glitches.
Apparently a parent delivering a child bumped a school bus with their vehicle – there were no injuries and no major damage.

No official first day count was available – school officials say that will come later.
It appears that Jana Concrete will remain in downtown Avon Park for a bit longer. Avon Park city council members last night moved to put them on a month-to-month lease until they move to their new location.
The company apparently was paying the city about $300 a year for their spot by the railroad tracks. It may be as much as eight months before they get to their new location – at the old Cemex Building on Highway 17. That also is inside the Avon Park city limits.
Jana has been downtown for about a half century.
