Highlands County commissioner this morning discussed proposals on purchasing new properties for use by the county, the tax collector’s office and even the School Board of Highlands County. NEWS 1/27/21 BF AP//SCHRADER Avon Park City Manager Mark Schrader has finally recieved his first evaluation. It was supposed to have come at the six month mark, but was put off due to the coronavirus. News Update for 1/21/21

Highlands County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting incident. It happened last night on E.O. Douglas Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood east of Sebring. They are releasing few details, save that the victim had to be airlifted to a trauma center. No names have been released and it is unclear what prompted the incident. Continue reading
