Sebring police are looking for information in connection with an early morning shooting incident in the Washington Heights neighborhood. Officers in the area of Lemon Street and Dr Martin Luther King jr Boulevard heard shots being fired shortly before 1:00 this morning.
When they arrived at the scene, there was nobody there and nobody saw anything. Later, two gunshot victims showed up at the hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to contact the Sebring police.
The Polk County firefighters union is appealing what it calls an unjust termination.
Polk County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Charles True was fired last week for insubordination, failure to supervise and untruthfulness.
His boss says True didn’t follow orders, and it wound up costing the department about 60-thousand dollars. The allegation goes back to August when True and a crew were in Levy County cleaning up after Hurricane Idalia.
He was told to have his crew work 12-hour shifts, but they worked 24-hour shifts instead for about a week. True had been with the department for almost 20 years.
The union that represents True tells maintains that True was "an outstanding employee," and the union would "…continue to aggressively defend their members’ rights."
