After being late on their annual report for the past several years, Avon Park city council members have decided to abandon their longtime accounting firm in favor of a new one.
On a unanimous vote, the council decided to go with Brenaialsen CPA over Wicks, Brown and Williams. Avon Park Financial Director Melody Sauerhafer said she had worked with Brenialsen when she worked for the city of Frostproof and had been more than satisfied with their performance.
There will be a challenge this weekend for those driving Highway 27 through Lake Wales. Beginning today, US 27 northbound at the State Road 60 bridge and US 27 southbound at Central Avenue will be closed.
The shut-down will run through Monday. That action is being takes so that beams may be set for the new SR 60 bridge.
Signage will direct motorists through detours, and. Law Enforcement will be present to direct traffic. Authorities are asking motorists to allow extra travel time and use caution in the construction zones.
