There was a bit of a sticky situation south of Sebring. A single vehicle rollover accident caused a molasses spill at the intersection of Highway 27 and State Road 66.
Authorities had to close part of SR 66 to facilitate the cleanup. Apparently, there were no serious injuries.
Local officials are warning residents to keep their eyes to the skies today. This time it’s not for airplanes, they warn that some very strong thunderstorms could be moving through the area later this afternoon.
A low pressure system moving through the gulf could spawn some high winds, rain and even a tornado. They say low lying areas also might get some flooding.
When it comes to analytical jobs, a new survey says one in five people in Highlands County have that kind of employment. The analysis by the Critical Thinking Index shows that about 21-percent of the workers in the Sebring metro area have jobs in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence or digital technology.
That’s below the national average of one in three workers – or about 33-percent of the job force in the analytical job sector.
A Polk County rabbi is finding something good in a time of tragedy. Temple Emanuel held a vigil for Israel yesterday in Lakeland. About 200 people showed up, and Rabbi David Goldstein says he felt reassured by the turnout. He tells ABC Action News it shows compassion, conscience and love still exist.
