Officials of the Highlands County Health Department are starting a handwashing campaign. Representatives say they are treating the outbreak of the Coronavirus as a typical flu event – and the best way to stop it is to wash your hands throughout the day.
If you are in a public restroom, they recommend covering your hand when you open the door. They also recommend washing hands before eating.
And if you do get sick, practice “social distancing.” In other words, stay home until you’re better.
School officials, family, fans and well-wishers turned out this morning at the Sebring Senior High School to send-off the Sebring Basketball team. They are headed for the Final Four High School State Tournament in Lakeland.
There, they will take on Rickard High School of Tallahassee in the next round of play. The send-off was at the Sebring High School parking lot.
Avon Park will be a beehive of activity today as the sixth annual Vet Jam gets started in Avon Park. Donaldson Parkj is slated to have live music and a number of food trucks set up.
A parade of boats is planned for this afternoon at 3:00. The event will run through Sunday.
