News Update for 4/6/20

Florida Department of Health officials have released more detailed numbers on the Coronavirus for those here in Highlands County. Of the 272 total tests conducted to date, there have been 232 testing negative, 35 positive and the rest pending or inconclusive.
There are 21 men and 14 women in Highlands reportedly who’ve caught the Corona, although their level of illness has not been released. Ten people have been hospitalized and there now are two deaths here in Highlands County said to be related to the virus in some way.
So far, department of health officials say they are not tracking those who have been infected and who have recovered from the disease.

Units from Highlands Lakes Volunteer Fire Department were called out to extinguish a brush fire on Albritton Road off of State Road 17 Saturday night, Officials say the fire was quickly contained. The cause is unknown and there were no injuries.
Although there has been some rain over the weekend, authorities say it remains unclear how much it will help the overall dry conditions. A possible burn ban may be discussed at tomorrow’s Highlands County commission meeting.
