Avon Park city council members last night heard about a failing recreation program at the Martin Luther King Complex. City Manager June Fisher presented several requests by the organization to clean up the facility and raise money.
They would like portables on the property removed – saying the buildings were heavily damaged by Hurricane Irma. They also asked that they be allowed to name the buildings and individual rooms in a fundraising effort.
Council took no action on the requests, but seemed pre-disposed to having the city take the program over and run it themselves.
The Avon Park Chamber of Commerce is looking for some company at their Main Street location. The organization is looking to sub-let a couple of offices in the back of their building.
They say they have free parking and internet service is provided as part of the deal. Those interested should contact the chamber.
