Director of Transportation for the Highlands County Schools, David Solomon, has respoded to reports of an incident where a trio of school children were left off better than two miles from their appointed bus stop.
Calling it “confusion on everyone’s part,” Solomon said the bus driver will recieve a letter of warning and will have to go through re-training as well.
He said the system remains about 10 drivers short, causing a number of routes to be combined. Soilomon said that may have led to the situation.

Officials from Power & Light productions say they are moving ahead with plans to re-locate their operation from Hardee to Highlands County. After decades of staging biblically-inspired stories at the Cattlemen’s Arena in Wauchulla, their plans next year are to hold a production at South Florida State College in Avon Park.
Auditions for “The Story of the Bible” will be held Sunday at the Real Life Church in Bowling Green, for those seeking speaking parts. The try-outs will commence Sunday at 3pm.

Early reports indicate there may be some problems with this year’s Christmas on the Mall presentation in the City of Charm. Organizer Anna Marie Feeny told the Avon Park City of Council she’s ready to put it all together, however, she has been told that the Florida Department of Transportation is planning to do repairs on Main Street at that time which would be disruptive.
City officials say the construction schedule still unclear.
