It will be a busy night for the Avon Park city council. They first will gather at 5:30 to sit as the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency. There, they will hear a marketing proposal from the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce.
At their regular meeting, the council will get a status update on proposed revisions to the city charter, look at what to do with the Wilde Building and hear comments and concerns from citizens about the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and their law enforcement activities in the City of Charm.
Some Highlands County residents were baffled after they received notices from the Hendry County Tax Collector’s office last week. Highlands County Tax Collector Eric Zwayer says those reminders actually came from his office – but the vendor that the county uses for the service inadvertently used the Hendry County stationary and envelopes.
Zwayer did not say how many of the notices were mailed.
Those wishing to renew registrations or make payments here, should use the Tax Collector’s Sebring address.
The Sebring International Raceway will be hosting another off-track event this coming fall. Reportedly the Inaugural Highlands County Stair Climb & Walk will be held at the raceway this coming September.
The event is designed to memorialize the 343 FDNY Firefighters and 64 Police Officers who lost their lives in the attack on the Twin Towers in New York City on 9/11 of 2001.
Reportedly, the event will be cobbled together with a Kids Racing for Life event which allows terminally ill youngsters to ride race cars around the historic circuit.
