A Highlands County resident reportedly was killed yesterday in a Hardee County traffic crash. According to reports, a Sebring man failed to negotiate a curve on Parnell Road. The car ran off the highway, down an embankment and slammed into t concrete culvert.
Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was a multi-car pile-up south of Sebring this morning. It occurred shortly before 6:AM near the intersection of State Road 66 and Sparta Road.
Witnesses say it appears that there were four vehicles involved in the snarl. No other details have yet been released.

A traffic stop on Highway 27 netted a drug arrest for Highlands County Sheriff’s deputies. Traverrian Nikael Bernard Williams was pulled over near the intersection of Lake Josephine Drive.
During the stop, a Sheriff’s K9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the car, Inside the vehicle deputies found fentanyl, MDMA and cocaine. Lawmen also seized a Glock 9mm pistol.
Williams was charged with drug and firearms counts and booked into the Highlands County jail.

The official start of a new VA Clinic in Sebring began this morning with groundbreaking ceremonies. The new facility is slated to go in on New Life Way.

Highway 17 at REA Road in Hardee County was closed for a time last night due to a pedestrian involved traffic crash.
Hardee County Sheriff’s officials have not released details on what happened or the condition of the pedestrian.

A man is getting psychiatric help after an incident in Polk County. The sheriff’s office says a man in a mental health crisis climbed a railroad lighting structure in Lakeland yesterday morning. He remained there, 30 feet above South Combee Road, for about ten hours.
Fire Rescue safely removed him from the structure using two tower rescue trucks.
Deputies say the 28-year-old was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He’s also facing charges that include drug possession.

A Miami man is in custody after a high-speed chase in Polk County. The chase started Saturday night on I-4 near SR 33.
FHP says a state trooper saw David Bush driving an SUV aggressively, and when the trooper ran the SUV’s tag, he found it was reported stolen.
The trooper tried to pull Bush over, but Bush shut off the SUV’s lights and refused to stop. That led to a chase that reached 105 miles an hour before a PIT maneuver was used at Rockridge Road and US 98 to get Bush to stop.
Bush and his passenger then ran away on foot, but Bush was later found at a gas station and arrested.
