The City of Sebring has completed phase one of a beautification project at Reflections Memorial Park on U.S. 27 South. The project was completed in partnership with the Truist Foundation. A new monument sign featuring five blue butterflies was recently installed to honor the five women killed during the Jan. 23, 2019 tragedy at the former SunTrust bank site. The memorial park was dedicated in 2020 and serves as a place of remembrance for the victims. City officials say additional phases of the park improvement project are still planned.
The Sebring City Council has approved an expanded Fourth of July fireworks show in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. The unanimous vote authorizes a larger display featuring more than 3,000 shots, over 1,100 shells, and a special illuminated American flag sequence. Mayor John Shoop said the enhanced show will recognize veterans, service members, and the nation’s milestone anniversary. The celebration will be held on Lake Jackson, alongside additional Independence Day events planned by the Sebring Historical Society.
